Michael Leckie

Earlier this week we had a visit from a highly sort after London based fashion photographer, Michael Leckie. It was an exciting and highly inspirational day, that i enjoyed very much. 

    He talked about his career and journey in the photographic industry so far. 
     Originally from Belfast, Michael Leckie became interested in photography from his love for rock and music in his youth, this is shown in his style of work today. Studying at the University of Westminster, where he graduated wit 1st class honorees. 
   His main inspiration was from Pennie Smiths' photograph of the Clash, and he uses her similar style with the lens flare in his own work. 
  He has a huge client base including Elle magazine, Royal Ballet, Columbia Records, and Warner Music. 
   After the talk he gave us a lighting workshop where we all had a laugh and were shown how he would light certain sinarios and poses. 
    Michael Leckie was a down to earth, genuine guy and delivered a brilliant day. 


   I was very keen on his work during the day, so later we went to the pub where i interviewed him to find out more about his background and progression, I will be posting my portrait of him soon.....
